of the Finistère Marathon 'La Transleonarde'

The Finistere Marathon is the meeting place for athletes at the Western part of Brittany for a 26.219 miles distance of discoveries combining cultural and natural heritage.
A date to note in your diaries, an event that is being prepared, for you, by passionate volunteers

There's no point in running, you have to start in time...


Since 2002, we have demonstrated the interest of such an ordeal in Finistère and we wish to be a showcase of our department to athletes.

Indeed, every year more than 500 runners come to discover our route and its beauty, which puts La Transléonarde in the top 15 French marathons.


The Transléonarde Marathon races have gained quite a fame: recognized at the local level for the interest of this race, and also at the national level in the sporting world. Since 2002, more than 12,000 runners from 79 departments (including nearly 7,000 from Finistère) and representing 26 countries have participated in the Finistère Marathon (Eurozone countries but also the United States, Singapore, India, Cayman Island, Australia, Russia, New Zealand).

The new route connects the Halles of Plouescat, a 16th century site, to the town of Guissény. The 26.219 miles line will take runners along the Coast of Legends, dotted with magnificent natural sites offering beautiful windows onto the coastline, its beaches and its coastal landscapes.

The Finistère Marathon has acquired along the years a certain notoriety, in particular thanks to a regular presence in numerous departmental, regional and national races, also thanks to our participation in 'the Fellowship CHallenge'  bringing together 21 prestigious races ( 18 in France, 2 in Belgium and 1 in Germany).

'La Transléonarde' is :


- The Marathon Race of Finistere : the notorious running event by the coast from Plouescat to Guisseny,
- The Marathon Race in Duo, 19.5 km ans 22.5 km-long distances, great way to enjoy a race with a friend, a family member, before attempting the Marathon all alone
- The Handisport sport event, 21 km-long : a true desire to open this sport for all
- The Shipwreckers' Trail Race, 13 km-long, a true trail event on beaches and walking paths all along the coast of 'la Côte des Légendes' from Kerlouan to Guisseny.  A technical track.
- 2 coastal walks, 12 km et 18 km-long ones, nice walks to discover the coast and some of the 'Côte des Légendes' astonishing scenery points

'La Transléonarde' is also :

- Entertaining sports games for kids on Saturday afternoon (free participation)
- An initiation to a sea walk, a 100% nature sport which enables an intense but soft muscular work (free participation)
- A guided visit of the Leon territory by bus - a great way to learn more about the area and the Marathon race path (on Saturday afternoon, free, on reservation, French comments only)

And 'La Transléonarde' is :

- The pasta party meal on Saturday night (14 euros / £13 - on reservation),
- The great free food and beverage supply on the finish line
- The after-race traditional meal 'Kig Ha Farz' (regional  meal - 14 euros  / £13- on reservation),

... and great entertainig activities and animations all along the different races !
